I know this sounds wierd but it has me stumped:

Whenever I run D3D above 800X600 have trouble running more than 1 or 2 missions. It either CTD's during the mission load or locks up at the mission start. This happens in both the standard 1.5 and the patch. OpenGL causes no problems loading at any resolution. This just started all of a sudden and I can't think of anything I changed.

I have reinstalled FS and my video drivers but it didn't help. I tried several different sdemons.ini files and that didn't help (thanks anyway Nat and Harman). My card is an Asus 32mb GeForce2 GTS.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I do have the same problems sometimes.
Solution 1. I had the CTD during the Desert Fox Campaign. I gave my squadrons a "Mission Objective" and the level worked fine.

Otherwise it can help to clean the garbage can. Sdoe takes a lot of space on your hard disk. I have a small 3 GB-disk and cleaning the disk with Norton SystemWorks helps.

Do you have an ungodly amount of planes installed? The less number of planes, the more stable SDOE is and the more missions you can play in a row. Ive had that problem MANY times with an ungodly amount of planes so I installed SDOE twice and split it up: WW2 and misc on one install and WWI and stock SDOE on the other. I also have another install for just the on-line standard. So whats that.. 3 installs?

Also how many user-created terrains do you have? Rhineland Winter is known to cause problems if you use the 'Missions' section of SDOE... And Dovernight isnt liked all that well by the 'Missions' section aswell. Sometimes it CTDs if youve played a few missions or it can CTD when you go back to the 'Training' section after youve ben in the 'Missions' section.

P.S. This happens in Glide and D3D for me...

Thanks for the suggestions, but....

Jan, I even have this problem with Takeoff Training Missions so I don't think the lack of Mission Objective is the problem. Also, I have a 43GB hard drive so HD space isn't an issue either.

Argon, I don't have seperate installs but I do have seperate Aircraft folders. One for offline with the "ungodly amount" of planes and one for online with only PP6 planes in it. I tried the smaller online folder and still have the problem.

The terrain doesn't make any difference either. I have the problem with out of the box planes in out of the box terrains in out of the box Training Missions. And I have the problem after a fresh boot when I haven't used any user-made terrains.

Does anyone have any other thoughts?

What did you do with my computer?

I've got the same problems since yesterday.
I can train in the Wildcat, but every time I try the Corsair ... I didn't have that problem last week.
I get the CTD when SDOE tries to load the squadrons. Maybe the problem is there. If I find it out, I will let you know.
So also from my side. HEEEEEELP !!!

Maybe this will help.

I installed Nations V2 in the wrong directory. Now everything works perfect!
