I seem to be getting a bunch of CTD's in what were stock scramble missions using the new patch. One was "Allied fighters at one o'clock", I think. I'm not sure what vintage the missions are. ie: if they're original to the game. So far it's only my German flyer missions and I have yet to give the game a good work out to check for this. I did a scandisk with no results. I'm also getting the windows "illegal operation" error. Anybody got any thoughts. I suspect corruption.
Thanks.

Try playing these missions with the normal 1.5 patch. If all works fine, then recopy and paste the sdemons.ini to your patch directory. Maybe only the ini file is corrupted in the patch folder.

Sunray; any chance you are using OpenGL? I am having the same problem with stock ( original ) missions. I tried in both OpenGL and Glide. The OpenGL renderer will give a illegal ops message the first time through...there is something in the patch readme about it. Plus some planes cause ctd yet, until they are fixed. I found that the training missions work ok, if I stay with planes I know work with the patch. I still can't run the stock missions all the time...sometimes they will work fine, other times lockup/ctd, same missions. Check the patch readme again, maybe the answer is there.

No OpenGl and Harman does that mean a reinstall or is there a way of going back to the original patch?

Sunray, as far as I know, you can run any SDOE version you have installed without needing to re-install to run 1.5 For example, I have 4 SDOE versions:

1.5.0.0 (official patch)

1.5.2.7 (beta)

1.5.2.8 (beta)

Build 65 (beta)

Except of course for the official 1.5, I have the other versions installed in their respective folders named after their versions. Because I install each version to a different directory, I can run each one seperately whenever wanted.

So far I have not had problems with this. What I meant in my post above is that one of sdemons.ini files in the patch directory is *maybe* corrupted. You can run the normal 1.5 and see if all is ok, if so, copy the sdemons.ini from the official SDOE directory and paste it into your patch directory. You shouldn't have to reinstall to play 1.5
