Does V5 work well in Glide? I have read posts that mention screen resolution limited to 800x600. I run the beta patch-1.5-76 which allows much higher resolutions. Can anyone tell me if they are running at high resolutions with the V5 in Glide? I have seen the V5 agp for $109 and if it runs SDOE well in Glide I would buy it thanks

It runs SDOE well, but there are driver issues. You dont have the visual artifacts as you do in D3d (This is all with the oficial patch BTW) but you have to have the latest V5 drivers for SDOE to work. And then you have to set your desktop to 32 bit and if you play SDOE for a long period of time the textures go screwy on you. But in Glide you do get the better frame rate and better visual quality IMO.

Now that there is a new patch in the works, you may no longer need to run Glide in SDOE for it to look well. OpenGL is being added in and D3d improvements are being made and also the ability to run SDOE in high resolutions in Glide.

But for that cheap the V5 really is a good card. Im VERY happy with it as it runs all current games quite well. (Theres nothing like 4x FSAA on a V5) But keep in mind the V5 is a long card. Make sure you have room in your computer case.

Thanks for the info- One last question-Can you run sdoe in glide with the patch at high resolution? My monitor can dislay at 1600x1200 and display options in 3dfxglide in sdoe go up to that resolution with the patch I have.

Yes with the latest patch by Wings with Wires you can run SDOE at very high resolutions. Which ever driver set is the latest official one is the one I recommend.

voodoo4 runs glide in sdoe very well although the card is slow
