Vahnatai- This is NOT true. SDOE has a lot of people that play on-line. I've spent 2 different nights playing online for over 5 hours with anywhere from 9 to 16 players. I have played other weekend nights and never had a problem finding people. Between 8pm and 10 pm EST, I can usually run into people 3-4 times a week. Spin and I were trying to do some testing on the plane pack (on a Wednesday night) and forgot to lock the game when we started. We had 3 people jump in before we even got a mission picked.
Keep in mind, if a game is going on, you'll see zero people in the lobby. Most people stay in the game and F5 so they can watch the better pilots fly until the game is over. This means there can be as long as a 10 to 20 minute gap before people start appearing in the lobby.
Timing is important. Friday nights and Saturday nights are the best times. The easiest way is to download SDOE beeper, it'll let you know when other people are online. The only problem with this is- if everyone is waiting for the beeper to go off before they go online, nobody will ever be there.
If you want to, post a notice on the mainboard telling people you'll be on-line and the day and time. If someone can make it, they'll post a response.
