Um, I should know this. When one changes skins, without the little lizard, which file gets changed? Is it the TIF? Oh and, afte rmy reinstall, the Hurricane Mk2 comes out with a lovely blue fuselage and blue wings. What do I need to do? I've done this before too. Senility is just awful.IP: Logged |

Not sure what you mean by a little lizard but, I use Ground Crew and it relaces the tif s in the texture folder.

Use 'ground crew' it's the best utility by far. ------------------ Yardstick painted this IP: Logged |

Sun ray,Whenever you change skins, you need to delete the texture cache files in the media directory. If you don't, you can wind up with the results you mentioned. I didn't one time after adding a new b-17 skin, and had a B-17 that was a patchwork of metal skin and olive drab ------------------ "Where'd he GO!?!?" thunk-thunk-thunk-zing-OUCH That answered my question IP: Logged |

Having to delete the texture cache is a complete myth. I might do it about twice a year as part of general maintainence of my SDOE directory. I have over 150 different paint schemes that I am constantly swapping and never get any problems. If I had had to rebuild the texture cache everytime I altered a skin, I can assure you I would heve stopped painting them after the first one!If you use Ground Crew correctly you should have no problems ------------------ Yardstick painted this IP: Logged |

No yardstick, this is not a complete myth. I've changed textures and either had the resluts mentioned above, or the new texture isn't applied to the aircraft in the game at all. When this happens, the only thing that has taken care of it is deleting the texture cache files. I'm not sure, but I think ground crew takes care of this problem for you. If you aren't using ground crew, and changing the textures manually, my experience has been that I have to go in and delete the cache files or things get screwed up. Guess I'll have to take another look at ground crew ------------------ "Where'd he GO!?!?" thunk-thunk-thunk-zing-OUCH That answered my question IP: Logged |
