Having been grounded for about 3 months due to broken joystick. I bought a Logitec Wingman Force 3d.
I have just spent a day trying to programme the sticks buttons, no joy. Has anyone had simmilar problems with this stick. Increacingly frustating as I'm eager to get back into the skies.

Cheers.

I tried one out for several days to write a review and only had problems with trying to program numeric keypad inputs requiring a key combination.

Everything else worked fine.

What kind of problems are you running into?

Problems I came across were,

Unable to programme weapon station select to any joy button, (equivelent to the backspace key).
I thought I could cycle through the weapons with one button then fire that weapon.

I also tried to dedicate each button to a weapon, eg joy button 3 = rockets.....
It will select the pylon/bay weapon but not fire it.
It will fire when I press the weapon release though! Are they a way to have one button to select and fire the weapon or is it the case selecting the weapon first then firing it?

I don't remember with my old trusty Trustmaster PFCS the recoil being as pronounced when firing guns/cannons as it is now.
Is this because of the force feedback settings?

I know I will probibly get used to the new stick but I don't feel as if I have the same control during flight. I feel all over the place. Was I spoiled with the quality of my old stick compaired to the new?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Cheers

I'm not sure about your joystick but is it plugged into the game port or is it usb? The only joystick I could program through it's own software in SDOE was the Cybrog 3d but it's is broken. Right now I'm using a Logitec Wingman but I forget which model it is, only cost my $25.00. It's OK for now but I'm waiting for the joystick I really want but it's still in beta. This is the same post I gave to another person about mapping keys to a joystick:

You can do it but I'm at work right now so the info I give you now might be wrong but I'll try. Open the Keyboard.inp with Notepad and look (do a find) for the word "JoystickButton" and make sure that the button you want to use is not being used. Then on the command that you want to assign the joystick button to put this in
" | JoystickButton3" (don't put the " in) so your line will look something like this: inpWeaponsRelease = Enter | JoystickButton3. This line of code assigns the weapon release to the 3rd button of the joystick and the enter key on the keyboard.
Hope this helps you.
