Hi

I got FS for Xmas and still doesn't run for me. I suspect it's my ATI Mach 64 RagePro
8 Mb card. I do have directx 8.0 and the
latest drivers... I guess my card is not
up to snuff??? Any comments? Thanks.

I doubt it is the card, though when I first got it, I had a onboard Trident 4 meg video chip, and a Voodoo2 accelerator. I used the Voodoo2 to run it in Glide. Still have the Voodoo2, BTW, with a GeForce2MX. Both will run it ok, though I like the looks of the Glide better.

Perhaps it is something else; does it install ok? Any error messages at startup?

Do a search here on directx 8. I seem to recall some SDOE has some problems with it.

How far along does it get? Like Nealg says, does it install or just not run? I have a lesser card than yours and the game runs ok.

Ok, does it get anywhere? I mean does it get to the menu or just nothing? The black screen? Have you tried to un-install it and reinstall? Or are you trying to run it without the CD in not having downloaded and installed the patch?

No it doesn't get antwhere. Meaning nothing happens. The main menu is there
it won't play. I've already reinstalled and tried everything. No more options.

Your problem is the Mach64/RagePro drivers. The Mach64 is a pre Direct3D card that supported Direct Draw but not Direct3D. The RagePro chipset is a post Mach 64 board that is supposed to support D3D. If this card shows up with both descriptions in the hardware list, something really WEIRD is going on. FS probably can't figure out whether it's supposed to use the software or hardware renderer.
