My husband just started palying this game. We can't figure out what the clock enemy locations actually mean. We try this as a real clock but still can't find the enemy. What do we need to do. Also, is there a printable manual out there somewhere?

Imagine you're sitting on the center of a clock face. Directly in front of you is 12 o'clock. Straight back is 6 o'clock. Left is 9 and right is 3. High means "look up." Low means "look down."

"Bandits" are known enemy planes, "Bogies" are planes whose allegiance is still unknown (due to distance).

So, "Bandits, 4 o'clock low!" means look over your right shoulder and down to see some badguys. "12 o'clock high" is straight ahead, and up.

Of course, these planes are moving, and so are you, so if the bandit is 3 o'clock low NOW, it doesn't mean he'll still be there by the time you figure out which keys to press to look at 3 o'clock low...

Just be lazy like everyone else , press T for target and then F1, you will then be looking straight at the target using padlock view, press T again to toggle through all targets, press N to look at the nearest target. Press F1 again to return to normal view.

There isn't a printable manual But I'm seriously considering scanning mine so that people can print it out, there's alot of people got the game in a bundle without a manual, I don't know the legality of doing this, but hell, it's not a new game, and it's even given away at some stores these days, I doubt I'll get sued

If you do a search of the FAQ and General forums for - keyboard mapping - you should find a few posts, I know that I listed just about every key function in one post, just use the search function at the top right of the screen.

Hope this helps you both out

There is a very nice manual on the CD.

1. Use Windows Explorer to look at the CD.
2. Go to the help directory.
3. Go to the English directory.
4. Double click index2.html

Welcome to SDOE. Be sure to install the updates. Patch 1.5, PlanePack 6, and Nations 2.

I don't use the padlock but I do hold down M key and look for the little red planes that are the enemy. If you want I could e-mail you the Handy Dandy Doc.

Hi, Weasel.

I know this thread is a little old, but I've been looking for the "Handy Dandy Doc" and have gotten nothing but dead links (the same one, I'm sure). I understand it's a treasure trove of tips and info.

Anyway, I did a search for it and your post offering it to another lost soul came up. Lucky guy! If you wouldn't mind sending me a copy as well if you get a chance I'd really appreciate it. My email address is in my profile above. I need to get rid of the damn stuttering, tearing, propellers (they're driving me nuts) and I hear there's a step-by-step for that in the Doc (among other things).

Thanks.
