I seem to have a problem with on-line part of the Game. I was wondering if someone could help. I Have re-installed everything and I get on I have done one mission but I crashed when trying to do the second and any after.

It runs fine on its own. I have a 233 MHz Processor and 64 Megs of memory could this be why it keeps crashing?

Starfire - yes and no. Hard to say, without knowing a few more details. Might be your system, your ISP, your connection, your sound card, your video card, your system type...er, see? Also, crashes...crash = lockup? CTD? A 233 with 64 meg RAM may not have the oomph needed for online, but you may have it tweaked in some way?

A few more details might help.

Ok, a couple of things: have you set the texture cache files to Conserve Disk Space? ( In Options ) 1.16 Gig...you may be filling up disk space, depending on your swap file size; the texture cache files get pretty large, and if you have less than 500 meg free after the SDOE install, this might be something to check ( windows won't tell you cause you may have plenty of space for it ).

The other thing may be your processor speed/RAM. Online is a tough place now...I have a PIII500E and most times I am on, others have faster machines. If you are experiencing any warp/lag just prior to your ctd's, that could be a contributing factor. Do you run at the 1/2 speed setting?

These may not be answers, but at least are a couple of things you can check. Online CTD's ( crashes to desktop ) are pretty common...even among the fastest machines. At current RAM prices, if you can at all afford it, more RAM might be a good investment. At the least, it would help your video/audio cards out a bit. And though I hate hearing it over and over, the latest drivers for both your video and audio might help if you don't have them already. As a personal opinion, and based on experience, it doesn't always help - in fact, it seldom does - but sometimes it works.

Hope this can start ya on the right track...

run at half speed have not tried the Drivers other then what ME gives me in updates.
Hehehe well at least i know what CTD means now. also the 1.16 is after SDOE is installed by i will Try the Control to see if that helps to conserve the space...
Hey is the Control 2000 going into Plane Pack v 6.1?
May have to wait a few months before I can let you guys shoot me down...
I think i did find out the problem though... woudl many people playing on-line same mission casue a CTD if nto enough RAM? I do notice at times the game will freeze fro a moemnt if their is alot of Fighters to manage off line.

Ok, well, if 1.16 gig is what you have left free, that should be fine. Sorry if I misunderstood. Running at half speed, with only 64 meg RAM might cause it if there are lots of players. Check your NetMaxPlayers in SDOE Control- it should be set to 16. The default is 8, so if you haven't changed it from the default, that could be it. You will know, if you try to enter a game where there are already 8 or more players. If you are already there, I think you will CTD eventually. This only affects online play, though - to my limited knowledge, it has no affect on offline play.

But with a 233, running at half speed, I would guess you would have a bit of trouble with larger missions; I think the half speed setting should help that, but am not familiar enough to say yes or no emphatically. Once you are in a game, you are running computer to computer; there are no servers then. If another connection is having trouble with yours, it could desktop you, if missions are fairly large.

Again, just possiblities and suggestions. Online SDOE is a strange beast; it will eat from your hand one moment, bite off your face the next.

hey all. just to let you know. I got it working. granted do to slow processor half speed but it works. I turned on the Control 2000 and set the Texture to max and to conserve disk space as well as setting it to 16 people.
seems to work jsut fine and I want to thank you for your help.

Starfire, you say you have ZoneAlarm running when playing online? I have this same firewall too but can not run any game online very well with it. I can run any game online with zonealarm on but my pc takes a very big hit to the point where it is not worth playing online. My pc is much faster than yours too! I'm not saying shut down zonealarm when playing online but this could be a problem when playing. Does your pc chunk when playing online?
