G'day guys....

I need some help here. My mouse seems to be using too much of my system resources.

If I move the mouse around on the screen it briefly locks uo for a few seconds then continues. I opened up the resource meter and it shows system usage peaking at 70 - 90 % when this occurs.

I use my mouse to pan around when I play DF2 online, this causes major problems as the game briefly locks a couple of times, then locks up completely.

The problem only started yesterday. I did no mods to my system or software changes.

My system is IBM Aptiva P3 450, 64 Meg RAM, 8 Meg Vid (generic)

Plse help - even scrolling down the message board has become a hassle

Cheers,

I doubt it's your mouse using all those system resources. Check to see if your mouse is clean. Sounds too simple I know but a dirty mouse gives erratic performance. If you don't know how to do this, and I'd be surprised if you didn't, open the little door on the bottom and scrap off all the crud that looks like an 'o' ring on the wheels. 'Crud' being the technical term.

Yep, did that first.

Have also:

Used Configsafe for general settings - no change.

Used Maintenance Wizard - no change

Updated drivers etc from IBM - no change

Started in safe mode - no change

Cursed, swore and generaly spat the dummy - no change

I'm gunna reinstal DirectX now...don't know if it'll make any difference....but worth a try.

Cheers

Well I got it working

During one of my many, many lockups tonight it finaly came up with an error message on the DOS startup saying it was missing file PELMOUSE.VXD and press any key to continue.....

So I did and everything works OK It still shows this message every time I start up but there seems to be nothing wrong.

Although I'm happy with my craptiva now, any idea what PELMOUSE.VXD is for ????

Cheers,
