Just upgraded from 8MB Vanta to 32MB GeForce 2MX and still get blocky appearing clouds on some missions. Any ideas?

Spanky here...

Did you delete your cache files so the game can rebuild them after putting in the new card?

I'm going to guess no.

Delete the 2 files with cache as part of the name in the media folder.

That might fix it.

Spanky,

I deleted the two cache files from the media folder, still get blocky clouds. I tried altering screen resolution 800x600 up to 1280x960 no difference. I then adjusted both object and texture detail from low to high, no difference, still get blocky clouds. Any other ideas? Help.

I'm not sure but I get the same thing now on my voodoo3 3000 card. I have had this card for over 1 year now. Before DirectX 8.0
everything was fine. It seems since DirectX 8.0, I have these problems. I even get blocky flak smoke and ground impact explosions as well.
I have tried using 3dfx drivers from all the way back to v1.4 on up to the current drivers with no luck.

Uninstalling DirectX 8.0 is not an option for me because it is so risky.

Yep, its a problem. Seems to happen with lots of different aircraft in a mission (4 or more I think). I see it a lot when B17's are in the missions. When I upgraded my system and tried out my new Voodoo5, I was really surprised to still see them sometimes. You can delete all the texture caches to your heart's content and you'll still have the blocky textures.
You can use the search feature in this forum for more information about these blocky textures.
