::Sigh:: I don't understand it. I'd be playing Fighter Squadron for about 10 minutes, and then all of a sudden the program locks up and I have to throw the power switch to my computer. I have the most up-to-date version of the game, so it can't be that. Could it be programs running in the background that's causing this? Please, someone help me!------------------ -SpecOpsHoov "A little C4 knockin' at your door." IP: Logged |

Somebody else had this problem. The answer had to do with too much heat for the video card or was it the cache was too small. Either way, look at both. And do a search of this site for a far better answer. You know? One that might actually help you.IP: Logged |

How would I change the cache size? Just for reference, I run a Voodoo3 3000 and I don't really think it's because it's overheated.... ------------------ -SpecOpsHoov "A little C4 knockin' at your door." IP: Logged |

Voodoo 3's with the latest drivers cause problems in SDOE. Go to the Jan or Feb driver and run at 16 bit rather than 32 bit color and see what happens.IP: Logged |

I think I figured it out. = ) I changed what driver Fighter Squadron uses. I was using Glide, but I switched it to Direct3D I think it was. It hasn't froze on me once since I've done that. ------------------ -SpecOpsHoov "A little C4 knockin' at your door." IP: Logged |

OK, but you will find it looks better in Glide with faster frame rates. You might be better off to find out what the problem is and run in Glide.IP: Logged |

Jerry, in some cases it's best to remember that: If it works, don't fix it. Specops, Cache size can be adjusted with the Control Center. Easy to use as it's a slide bar on one of the Control Center's tabs. Or you can get all fancy and adjust your swap file in Windows by changing the virtual memory settings. It adjusts the size of your swap file. Having a large swap file isn't necessarily needed for your whole machine, the same size as the amount of RAM you have should be fine. So use the Control Center and it shouldn't change your whole machine.IP: Logged |
