I am having problems with stuttering in
SDOE, e.g. when I first use the guns.
It is a bit of a problem when I suddenly
freeze when swooping in for a ground attack
or so on.

Has anyone else had this problem, and
can anyone else reccomend a fix?

My system is:
Celeron 300A at 450
128Mb RAM
Soundblaster Live!
Voodoo 3 2000 (not overclocked)
Windows 2000
DirectX 8
SDOE 1.5, and FSC Beta

I get stuttering in both glide and DirectX
with the beta. I can't run patch 1.5 in
glide as it causes the screen to be messed
up.

Thanks

Fraid its a problem we all have to live with, it is less pronounced with faster systems but still there. You need to fire your first shot before you reach a target, set the firing to MG only so you dont waste cannon, it will be ok after that.

I have a 400 and a 333 MHZ machine. On the 333 I'll fire the guns 2 to 3 times in the first 30 seconds to a minute and it seems to stop the pausing during combat.

One more note. Since you're using Win2000 and it's uses LOTS of ram, You may want to add another 128MB. There was a post in another area where you can get 12*MB of ram for $60 and free shipping. www.crucial.com

Make sure wind sounds and gun smoke are turned off and this will reduce the problem too.
Hope this helps

It costs a bit more than $60 in the UK
for an extra 128Mb! I might ask if I can
borrow the spare 128Mb from work. If it
doesn't fix the problem it isn't RAM
related.

I have gun smoke off, but wind sounds on.
Are wind sounds a significant problem?

Thanks
