It's a programming interface to send 3D information to 3dfx Voodoo boards. At the time the original Voodoo was released Direct3D didn't exist. 3dfx wrote a driver layer on top of their hardware that made it relatively easy for game developers to slip accelerated 3D into their then-existing software renderers. The main drawback to Glide is that it's proprietary to the 3dfx Voodoo line of boards. It doesn't work on nVidia, ATI, Matrox, etc. D3D and OpenGL are more general interfaces that (sort of) work across all of those boards. Long before 3dfx went totally belly-up it was clear that there were going to be a wide range of 3D cards that game developers would want to support. Thus, Glide support has been showing up in fewer and fewer games over the last year or so. IP: Logged |

Hey Daniel, the problem is with the latest Voodoo Drivers, they only let you play SDOE in 32bit color, so you need to switch your desktop to 32 bit before you start the game.I believe the 1.4 version drivers don't have this bug IP: Logged |
