I'm now running an Athlon 900. In Australia now, it is summer and it is hot. I checked my CPU temp and it was 48C. Only 2 below the user defined overheat temp of 50C. I am just wondering whether 50C is a conservative default and I am safe to hover around there, or should I be looking for futher cooling solutions. CPU is not always that hot, It's now at 36C. What is a reasonable CPU temp?
Regards TMcIver.

I have a 1g t-bird runs at about 33-36C. From what I've read, some are able to get the cpu nearer to room-temperature. The way the temperature sensors are setup on the boards, I wonder if some sensors are too far away from the cpu (IOW, not touching) to get an accurate reading

If you have time, do a search on the usenet groups via dejanews.com. You're sure to find more opinions there.

750 T-bird here, mine gets to 48c when playing anything 3d. I wonder if the added heat rising from the 3d Agp card is adding to it.
After playing any 3d game on mine the cpu drops back to 36c or so and stays around there.
Another system fan should help I think.
That 50c user defined thing in the hardware monitor is well below the Amd breaking point of 90c something or other anyway but cooler is better.
