One thing I learned to do is to unbig the par files.

Set up a folder with your parfile tools.
Using the Big Munger Unbig tool make a path to the par files in
C:/Programs/Fighter Squadron/Media (default path)
(I use the copy tool in the tool bar, edit menu)

paste that into the first window in Unbig.
choose a parfile, for example Data1.par
add that path to "Path to bigfile"window.

Now make a path to the folder you want to unbig that parfile in.
Example C:/Program/PafileTools/folder
put that path in window 2 "Destination directory"

Press "OK" button

The Data1.par file will now be extracted to the folder you designated in "destination directory"

With the builder you can do this backwards and create a parfile from a folder file.

I mostly use Unbig so far to check what's in the parfiles.

That should get you started.

Maybe some of the others that are more experienced with the other facets of ParfileTools can tell you more.
