I've had graphic problem for several weeks, in fact after upgrading to the latest ATI drivers and to DirectX7a. I re-installed my original Ati driver, re-installed SDOE several times, removed the sdoecache.tex file and upgraded again to DirectX8. Not much improvement. I feel my last chance is to revert to DirectX6. Does anyone knows how to do that without reformating the HD and completely re-installing Win98 ? This is an exemple of what I get when I play SDOE know. Thanks Sailor ------------------ IP: Logged |

Check the ATI website and see if there's a bios upgrade for your video card. This is a common problem if the card was built pre DX7Also, check to see if there's a bios upgrade for your motherboard. The only way I know to return to a previous version of DX7 is to reinstall windows. There's an uninstaller that's been made for DX8, but I don't know of one for DX7 IP: Logged |

You dont have to reformat. Theres away you can just delete certain DX files from the DOS prompt (So Windows wont say you cant because they are being used) and then reinstall DxWhateverversion. You can also just reinstall windows from DOS without reformatting or deleting the Windows directory.IP: Logged |

Never said you had to reformat.I found out if you reinstall windows it overwrites the new direct x version with the old one. Just make sure you have a CD for some game with DX6 on it as I think Win98 disks come with DX 5. IP: Logged |

Da Jug Head, I know you never said you had to reformat, but Sailor did. Win98 Second Edition (Which I have BTW) has Dx6.

Thanks for the good advices, I'll attack my DirectX files ASAP, and I'm seriously thinking of building an Anonymous Alcoolic SDOE site, or may be I'll call It "LSD Powered SDOE"... Thanks to all. SailorIP: Logged |
