I can't get SDOE to recognize that the CD is in the drive. I'm running w98 and a voodo3 2000 pci card. I've tried to install the patch and get the following message: PATCH Version 4.11 - .RTPatch(R) Professional - Software Update System DOS/Windows/Windows 95/Windows NT Edition (C) Copyright Pocket Soft, Inc., 1991-1998. All Rights Reserved. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ----- Processing Patch File ----- Applying HISTORY File Patch for 'SDemons.exe'error ept0036: Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match. I really was looking forward to loading the WW I program. Guess I'll have to fight w98 and other mysteries with help from my friends!

Is this on a fresh install? If not, I'd suggest deleting the entire Fighter Squadron folder and starting over. If you've made changed to your keyboard.inp you might want to copy that off to a temp directory before blowing everything away.IP: Logged |

Thanks for the replies and for having mercy on a very old newbie.I'm still at a loss. This was on a fresh install. In addition I deleted the entire program including the files in windows. I also have turned off all programs except the system tray. Does the fact that the patch indicates "file with same name and different contents"offer any kind of clue???? Please help me. I have been anticipating this program ever since I discovered the Open Plane Project.IP: Logged |

When I installed FS and tried running the downloaded 1.5 patch file I received the same messages. I finally realized, after exploring the CD that the 1.5 patch file is located on the CD in a different folder. So I installed FS, started a game (CD must be used), then exited the game. Running the game once with the CD after a clean install applies the patch. I removed the CD and started another game with no problems. To confirm that the patch had installed correctly I went ahead and ran the 1.5 patch file that I had downloaded. It returned "file already updated" messages as it ran through the list of files. Hope this helps. IP: Logged |

Ah, yes, that rings a bell. I believe you have to run Fighter Squadron one time and exit in order for the patch to work. There's some file that gets written on that first run that the installer is looking for.IP: Logged |

Kindly advisors, Much thanks for your time and thoughts. I still have one problem. I can't get the computer to recognize the CD. It keeps asking for the CD. When I hit ( retry ) I get the same message. I can't access the CD disk at all. IP: Logged |
