OK, I've got to try my hand at skins.
It is suggested to get Corel Photo Paint or Adobe Photo Shop. My local computer store suggested Adobe Illustrator v9.0 not really understanding what I was trying to do. Any good advice out there? There seems to be too many choices....

I'd suggest you download the evaluation version of PaintShop Pro. If you like it, well it's cheap to register. Or you can directly try The Gimp, it's free and powerful but the UI is not really good.

Last option... check if you don't have a copy of Photoshop LE bundled with some piece of hardware. I got one with my new HD!
