The new beta a10 obviously is chewing up the frame rates for me but I don't know to what extent. If I cut some texture it improves somewhat. Is there anything else I can do? (besides getting a new computer). In Janes WW2, if I key "alt f" the frame rates appear on screen. Is there a similar feature for checking frame rates in SDOE???IP: Logged |

hit alt-p for Frame rate, it will come up in the bottom left of the screen, I've been screaming out for reports on frame rate comparisions but no-ones listening. What I need to know is how it compairs to other aircraft, a good comparrison is A10/B17 frame rate since the A10 is so big, but also how it compairs with the fighters even though they are much smaller in comparisson to an A10. As for upgradin.. I don't think I would if it's oly the A10 slowing you down.. lol ~Nat~ IP: Logged |

Nat,Your A10 runs quite alright on my computer. The cockpit is innovative. The frames rates stay around the high 30s most of the time although the WW2 fighters in SDOE don't eat up the resources as much. As you said, the B17 is a good comparison. BTW, I like the work you did on that cannon! (it has six barrels in SDOE?) ------------------ Bombs may explode...handle with care...visit FS Online IP: Logged |

Checked frame rates soon as I got home. A10 runs between 10 to 15 fps, the highest in cockpit. The B17 runs for me between 15 and 25 fps. Seems good eh! One comment though, I find the a10 seems to poke along. I don't seem to get the feeling of speed at 300 mph as I do with, say the p51. Is that the way it is or will there be a difference with the completed Thunderbolt? IP: Logged |

Thanks Harman, still lots of little thing in the pit to do yet to tidy it up nd make it a little more realistic, mostly 3D buttons etc.Duke, thats pretty much how she'll be in the final version, the A10 is a very stable platform, and very big and heavy in comparrision to the much smaller WW2 prop aircraft. She should be sensative to control input from the stick, but stable through every move, departures and stalls are typicaly very difficult in an A10, she might not look it, but the actual A10 is a very manouvreble aircraft and really just doesn't feel the same as the aircraft we're used to in SDOE, I guess you could say it's like flying a Lanc or B17 at over 300mph, their size and weight just adds stability (if the wings didn't rip off.. lol) What I have noticed is she's suseptable to wind, and will "sway" in a cross wind,. but I think thats to be expected. But still, as I said, she's high manouvreble and will out turn almost any other jet out there but will bleed speed alot faster than the others, this is you're advantage in dogfights.. basically don't get into them uunless you're very very good in an A10, get low into canyons and lose them there if you can IP: Logged |

If you're not getting 20 fps or better then everything will happen in slow motion. This is all explained in the Handy Dandy Doc. Anyone have a link to the latest HDD?IP: Logged |

Mighty, I still have kopper's docs, thank God for not cleaning out my mail files. I put them up on my site, there's still lots of good stuff in those files. If you are new or have been away for a while they could be of interest. Just go to my home page and at the top there is a link to kopper's Handy Dandy Docs. Hope you don't mind kopper but your work should not go to waste, I still look up things I've forgotten. By the way where is kopper? Is he still off doing resreach for a book someone was writing? ------------------ silas Demon's Runway Fortes fortuna adiuvat [This message has been edited by silas (edited 10-17-2000).] IP: Logged | |
