Dear All,

None of my a/c with cannons are shooting! The machine guns work fine - not too bad in a Mozzie, but if you're in a Typhoon, it makes it a pretty one-sided contest!

Is there some control that I have inadvertently clicked to prevent cannons firing? I've looked, but can't seem to find what I have done wrong...

I have a MS digital joystick, and have reinstalled the driver and SDOE several times, in different orders, to see if that might fix things - no luck. The machine guns work fine, but even using the keyboard to shoot fails to fire the cannons. This applies to all a/c.

I'd really appreciate any help you might be able to offer...

Thanks.

usually all mg's and cannon are selected at mmission start, but just in case, here are the keys

1 = mg's
2 = cannon
3 = all guns+all cannons

If you're using a profiler for the controls, well, I'd advise against it, but it doesn't sound like you are, so hopefully it's a simple thing in the selection of weapons, keep us posted

Nat-
Why do you advise against using the profiler? I have a MS Sidewinder Precision Pro USB. I use two profiles - one for fighters and one for bombers and have had no problems. Have others had problem?

Thanks Nat, but I have tried the different keys before and this does not seem to make any difference. Interestingly, you mention that I should not use the profiler, and I am almost certain that my problem can be dated from setting this up. I had thought it just coincidence, but now think this may have something to do with the problem. Why did you suggest this?

When simply "plugged-in", the trigger on the j/s fired all guns, but I tried to get a bit more functionality, and set up some items using the j/s profiler. I am not 100% certain that this was the start of my problems, but it only dawned on me gradually that it was a problem as I had tended to fly mostly m/g-only craft, like the P51 and Spitfire.

I first noticed a problem with the FW190, when it seemed to require an awful lot more time to knock things down. Later I noted the problem with the Typhoon in particular (fairly obvious!), and also on the Mozzie. The machine guns are NOT affected.

Even if this were something to do with the profiler causing a problem, it seems to persist despite my attempts to uninstall and reinstall the driver software. Perhaps I have missed removing some component from my system (A Dell Inspiron laptop) during my uninstall, but thought I had been pretty thorough.

I am using a Sidewinder Precision Pro USB like you Jerry, and I was heartened to hear that this has not been a problem for you. Perhaps I can get the system back to the start again - I'll let you know. Any suggestions how best to get back to the beginnings, other than what I have already done?

Thanks again. I'll be in touch with any progress.

Guns! Guns! I deselected my j/s Profile, and my Typhoon is back in the fight! Why did you suggest I try this, Nat - have you had a similar problem? And Jerry, are you able to give me an idea of what profiles you have selected for your 'planes? Has anyone else had this problem? It's obviously good to be back in action, but I would like to know what the problem is, as Profiles do make flying easier.

Once again, thanks guys for taking the time to reply.

Yes I had this problem with SDOE and my Wingman Profiler, and I'd heard others say the same thing, you can edit your Keyboard.inp for SDOE and get exactly the setup you want that way, but for some reason SDOE didn't like me using the profiler and I couldn't fie damn thing after using it.

Glad it helped you out anyway, just edit your Keyboard.inp and you'll get just about all the things you wanted
