Hi all! I'm pretty new to SDOE (bought it today ). I know that this sim has changed a lot since its release and I want to update it to its full glory . Are there any recommended Add-Ons, are there sites where I can d/l them, and, more important for me, are there any important instructions that I should pay attention to? Thanks in advance! Thx bulldog, it's already bookmarked ! At the moment, I'm d/l tons of aircraft and add-ons . After that, I have to figure out how all this stuff works. Are there any add-ons that are a must have, and, more important, is there a order in which I have to install them? Since now, I've already installed Nation and SDOE Control 2000. What else is strongly recommended? TBird

First you need Plainpack 5.3 and the 5.3bpatch (get it at simfiles.com) This add on comes with an installer. For the other planes and ground objects, read the readme file,so you can see what to do. If there is no readme, the planes should be extract to the aircraft folder. Example: The Ju 87g2 installation: c:\fighter squadron\media\aircraft\Ju87g2 Sometimes you have to add a few lines to the startup.ppf file. But this is written in the readme of each plane! Have a look at: www.simfiles.com www.fshangar.com and so many others. search at the download section Rendsburger IP: Logged |

there is a good point of note here that maney don't find out till later, but it is this...if you install the plane packs, and then instal a beta or newer aircraft it will take presedence over the aircraft in the plane pack. What this means is that you may think you are using the online standard when infact you're not, since the standard is the par file but the newer version isn't. The easy way around this is if you have downloaded a newer version of a plane pack aircraft and want to play online, you simply rename the folder of the aircraft whilst you play online, and change it back again afterwards. ~Nat~ btw, if you haven't been there, I have one or two nice lil addons on my site

Can you add a plane that is not in the plane pack without affecting online standards? And you lost me a bit when talking about renaming folders to fly online. Does this need to be done everytime? ThanksIP: Logged |

Yes you can add a new plane that is not in the plane pack and still be online compatible. You only have to rename a planes folder if you have modified a plane pack plane, to get round this I have 2 installs, one for online and another for all the latest goodies. That way I can go online with nearly no worries. ------------------ [This message has been edited by Commando (edited 10-10-2000).] IP: Logged |
