Welcome to SDOE ally!
To start with you ought to put a fresh load of SDOE in and follow the online standard link above. The contest pack will upgrade what was in the origional and also include some new planes. After that try out some of the other links on this board like the Hanger etc...

Thanks Weasel but not sure what you mean about online, do you mean I have to play online or can I play offline to, do you know which directory to put planes into. Do they all go just into Fighter dir, or into Media dir, people tell me different and I'm not sure which?

OK ally;
Here are the files you need:

Fighter Squadron CD
Fighter Squadron 1.50 patch (681 kb)
Plane Pack 5.3 (12.6 MB)
Plane Pack 5.3b patch (1.5 MB)
Contest Pack 1.1 (9.9 MB)

Start with a fresh load of fighter squadron. Mine creates the folder in: C:\Program Files\Fighter Squadron. Then unzip the other files directly into the Fighter Squadron folder. If you want to fly online against other players online then you will most likely be compatable with them (if some planes are different you won't be able to play). You can still play offline against the AI (computers artificial intellegance). Now if you don't want to fly against others online, you can download some of the beta testing planes that are out there now. The P-51 is awsome! But if you decide to fly online some day and the others online are using the older version of the P-51, you won't be able to play until you reload the online standard. I believe that you can still download and use planes that are new and are not a part of the online standard. I hope this makes sense and helps out.

Sounds good to me Weasel, thanks a lot I hope it works out okay. Can I just ask you about a plane that I have downloaded. It is the JU87G2. I unzipped it straight into the fighter sqdn folder and when I load it comes up with a quick view of the cokpit then kicks me out to the desktop....any clues on this would be a help.

Thanks again Weasel

ally,
If you don't want to download the plane pack
post your email address so I can send you the files you need. The Ju87g2 needs some files from the planepack that is why it crashes to desktop.
