As the subject suggests, I'm new to SDOE and to top it off, I've purchased a new (older model) Logitech WingmanForce stick. I am having difficulties understanding the Keyboard.inp file, in that I cannot seem to find the KB command to set target padlock. Is "inpSetSlewMode=S" what I'm looking for? If so, how is it used effectively in game? the T key is also confounding me, I can cycle through the targs (in lower left of screen) but how do I know what targ I've selected, other than textually? Also, does anybody have a JS profile for the afformentiond stick that I could ask for a copy from? This could save me a bunch of trial and error time. Any help will be appreciated. ------------------ Fly Well, Dub Wing Walkers a Red Baron 3D Online Squadron IP: Logged |

I don't have the same stick, I have the Interceptor, but with the other stuff I can help..Padlock doesn't need to be activated in the Keyboard.inp, it's already a part of the game, you select a target using T then hit F1 to padlock it, F1 again will return you to normal view. F1 will padlock the target selected and you will always view in it's dircetion, thats how other than the overlay text you will know which target is selected. In the prefs you can set it to allow you to padlock distant targets, meaning targets you wouldn't normaly be able to visualy pick up. Hope this helps some, if not let us know ~Nat~

Thank you both for your quick replies!Johannes, No... these are not the same sticks, so I doubt that the profiles will be compatible, but go ahead and send a copy to wwdubya@hotmail.com. The profile manager might be able to parse the code enough that I can manually assign my buttons with your commands. Nat, Ah-HA! That's what I'm missing! The smots to figger dese tings out. As with my reply to Johannes, go ahead and shoot me the profile you have also. Who knows, I may be able to salvage enough info to build a custom profile from the both of yours. ------------------ Fly Well, Dub Wing Walkers a Red Baron 3D Online Squadron IP: Logged |

Hey Dubya, I don't actually use the Profiler to use the Wingman with SDOE, I have the keyboard.inp setup to program my buttons, if you like though I'll send you my keyboard.inp and you can use that, or atleast see how I have the buttons configuredIP: Logged |

Hi Dubya, and welcome I recommend using mouse-panning, very smooth and immersive! I think I am the only one though... I use the left hand on the mouse and the right hand on the joystick. I do keep on the throttle with my left hand allot in a fight, you wuold be suprised how infrequent you need to change your view when in a fight. I just make quick changes with the mouse, it feels so real! When I use padlock I feel like the aircraft is rotating around me and I am floating, I don't like that - I want to be in control! If you want to try it, let me know and I will post the needed lines to add to your keybard.inp file... ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

Actually, I like the padlock feature, as it is very similar to the the one in RB3D and I use it almost exclusively while in a fight. But please do send me your KB file and I'll give it a try... always willing to try something new!BTW: is it also possible to padlock a freindly or ground target? Haven't figured that one out yet. (Prolly right under my nose and just can't see the panel for all the instruments [grin]) ------------------ Fly Well, Dub Wing Walkers a Red Baron 3D Online Squadron IP: Logged |
