I'm pretty new to the modern PC sim genre. My previous experience was on LucasArts SWotL, which was by no means physically accurate. So I'm learning how to fly, albeit slowly, and what I was wondering is how much fiddling should I do with rudder trim (especially to counteract torque), and how much should I use horizontal trim to control pitch (specifically during landing). Obviously, I'm not a real pilot (ick, ptooie, pilots!), but I have a "basic" understanding of the physics of flight and of in-game flight control mechanisms.------------------ Thank you for your support IP: Logged |

This is pretty much a question of feel. It also differs from plane to plane. Some fly nicely balanced, and need little trim, others fight you all the way!Just keep trimming as soon as you take off, until you get the plane responding nicely. Don't wait till you get into a scrap..... IP: Logged |

yep, thats pretty much the way it is, they are all different and the best way to learn is to get used the all the aircraft, Rudder trim you will need on take off, but not so much if at all once you're in the air, and aileron/elevator trim you'll need all the time. Just take off and go into level flight at around 250mph and trim her up, just get used to the aircraft and after a while you wont even think about it, with your favoured aircraft you'll find you automaticly know what to do.. "take off, 5 clicks left aileron trim, 8 clicks upward elevator trim.. away I go"It's all a case of experience ~Nat~ ------------------ 7./JG3 "Naturlich" If you can't out run em.. OUT GUN EM! Nats FS-SDOE Site IP: Logged |

Thank you very much for your insights. I'm able to land now with zero or one bounce, and I can stop my Spitfire before she goes through the perimeter fence I'll keep practicing and practicing. Maybe some day you'll even see me online.------------------ Thank you for your support IP: Logged | |
