When I fly the bombers all my joystick responds to is the pilot position. Help

Use F7 to select your position, then press F6 to take control.

I hope that's what you meant

[Control]F1...F2...ect. will take you to the various positions without having to cycle throught them. Write them down and you can go immediately to the one you want.
