I'm working on the file structure of the WWI Zeppelin getting it ready for the damage model and have a question. It seems to me that I remember that someone stated the damage passes from children LODs to the parent LOD but not the other way around. (or something like that!!) Is that true? What are the Open Plane guidelines for damage passing from one LOD to the next?? Can you say fire spreading along the Fuselage of the Hindenberg?(err I mean L9 Zeppelin)?? Thanks! Ronin IP: Logged |

Damage passes from parent to child. This can be blocked by a command though. Damage does not pass from parent to child, but you can create a function call that will cause the parent to light the child aflame when the parent reaches a certain damage level.I have found that fire causes damage in a very odd way. Sometimes, as soon as an object is on fire that object goes to 10 dmg immediatly. This is why my planes have obFireResistant on their fuselage. Without that the plane would explode as soon as it catches fire. ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

obNoDamageChainThis prevents damage being passed from child to parent. Thus it is written in the Book of Openplane.....chapter 8, verse 2

You might check the tech section of the forum, I posted some topics there covering damage things, especially Fires...In short words - If you child starts to burn (via smkFire) it WILL send fractions of damage to its parent !!! read here: http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000976.html or for child-parent things (fire wise): http://www.fightersquadron.com/ubb/Forum7/HTML/000983.html
this explains it pretty good..I hope it does help ! LK801
