Topic: Training Mission Selection Screen Causes CTD

All of a sudden when I load Training Missions from the main menu I get a CTD just as the main mission selection screen comes on. All other options (Missions, Scramble, Hangar, etc) work fine. I deleted sdoecache .tex and .dir thinking it might be a weird cache problem but that didn't help.IP: Logged |

Jerry, do you remember which plane you were going to fly in the Training Mission when the problem started?For some reason that mission is causing the crash. May be a vehicle that you don't have or a new plane that the startup.ppf needs updating. I just had the problem when trying the training mission for the "ShermanII". When you find the problem mission you can just delete it. This way you will at least be able to get back into the "Training Missions" for the other planes. Of course check the readme files of new stuff, you may only have to update your startup.ppf to get the mission to work. ------------------

Raider, I did run the new tank missions a few times before this started. However, I just now examined my media/training folder and it is COMPLETELY HOSED!!!!! 99% of the folders are empty and there are dozen's of new folders (also empty) for things I never downloaded or even heard of...like B17C, B17gmega, the Betty, Catalina, Fokker P-51, FUNKED UP, ME262Prototype, Sweep, etc. It goes on and on. I don't think it was my Harrier since many have not reported problems like this. Me included, I downloaded my own zip and ran it and it worked fine.Sorry to hear that Jerry, that's really bad news. IP: Logged |

Sounds like you found it Jerry, if you were able to run the tank mission even once that probably wasn't what crashed the training missions. As a rule I always unzip to a test dir before I unzip to the Fighter Squadron dir. If it checks out ok I then unzip to FS dir and go back and delete the test one.Man, looks like a fresh install is needed. Before you remove and reinstall, you should put the planes you want to keep in a backup dir, as well as your current startup.ppf and keyboard.inp Good luck. ------------------

I know when I downloaded the new version of the V-1, Aladar had a LOT of extraneous files in his Zip-- but I was lucky and didn't just unzip it to my SDOE folder. That is where you got the Betty, and all those extras from...did you download the new V-1 or maybe the 100 as of late- this may be the problem. As far as the tanks go, I had the same problem until I made a new training mission for them and then they worked fine.------------------

Yes, I did download the new V-1. But I flew the test missions and was still able to get into my Training Missions a day or two later. It was just last night that the CTD started when I tried to get into Training Missions. Maybe we're talking two gremlins here? Aladar's zip hosing my Training Mission folder and something else causing the CTD?No, Pete is isn't the Harrier. I haven't downloaded it. By the way Aladar, you're ass is mine!!! IP: Logged |

Take it easy there Jerry  He's just a 15 year old kid who has seen Dinosaur 26 times...everyone makes mistakes. I know for a fact that when I zip up my campaigns, everything ends up cattywhompas...which is why I always state in the read-me to NOT unzip it to your folder as there is no telling where it will go Some of us are morons when it comes to this...easy solution-- unzip to a different folder and make sure everything sets up OK first. Aladar isn't the first and he won't be the last...if you want I can send you my training folder-- I am sure we have the same planes in there (give or take a few )-- e-mail me if you want them.------------------

Thanks for the offer Jeeves. If it will save me from having to do a complete reinstall of everything I'll take you up on it.As for going easy on Aladar, I'm having too much fun ripping him a new one. Training Zip is sending- but for the love of God -- please upzip it elsewhere first ...and make sure you have every plane as well before entering it.Was your training folder the only thing hosed...or do you need something else? ------------------

Aladar...I never said you didn't have a right to be here...and you are half my age- so to me you are a kid. No offense intended- so don't take offense to it  Besides, you want a nice campaign for your 110, don't you? It was my Sherman Training mission that was causing your CTD Jerry, Im sure of it. But I m also sure my sherman download didnt do anything to your files. There is something wrong with the Sherman Training mission, once you deleted it it would have fixed it. Sorry for the trouble, but __ happensIP: Logged |
