I wanted to know what type of compression is used in the creation of the aircraft image tiff files? I have Paint Shop Pro and Adobe PhotoShop, and Image Composer and none of them seem to be able to view the tiff files. Thanks VON IP: Logged |

You need to use the untiff.exe program that comes with the parfile tools (www.openplane.org)Just go to the SOD promt and type: untiff file.tif newfile.tif Then you can open them fine! I think it is called z-lib compression or something... there are aps that can open and batch convert these files.. but I forget the name of that ap... sorry ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

The file compression type used is ZIP, although when you make a tif you don't have to put this compression on it, SDOE uses any Tif type. The guys are right about the prog, it's actually called Ifranview, there is a website for it, it's a must have, very fast, and will do all you need http://stud1.tuwien.ac.at/~e9227474/english.htm IP: Logged |

Just confirming Nats comment:If the link is dead (which I am sure it is not), search for IRFANVIEW which is the full name of the program: EVERYONE should have it, it is so useful. S! MW IP: Logged |

I wanted to try making some skins, but I have a few questions first. 1. Is it frowned on to use a skin someone else has made as a reference, and if so how do you go about making a skin without? 2. I have a program called Infinity that is a trial, because I didn't want to purchase a paint proggy without trying when I might stink at it. Will that one be okay? 3. I got Irfanview and I still don't understand how to convert a .Tif to where Infinity can read it. Could someone explain the commands? Thanks IP: Logged |

I use gimp...its Freeware...and automaticaly reads &saves .tif files http://user.sgic.fi/~tml/gimp/win32/ 'Templating' off another skin is not an issue.... If you can honostly say that the vast majority of work that went into the skin is yours then fine.....however,....if it is less than that, then at the minimum give credit to the original auther in the .readme file. You can find some templates here : http://www.fightersquadron.com/warpaint/ Feel free to 'Template' anything off my site (just remember the above comments ) Also feel free to email me if ya come across problems....
