Okay...the board's a little confusing. Can some kind soul explain where abouts we are with this sim? There must be missions to download somewhere? Also, please, please, a word about what add-ons are safe. I've noticed lots of talk about problems ... I'm using the CD with patch 1.5 only and no problems and I don't wish to introduce new ones....love this game too damn much.

Questions 1: what the h*ll is a CTD?

2. How come on some planes the sound is reversed ie. when looking right it's my left speaker, but on other planes it's correct?

3. How come so few of us??? I'll take a game that models combat that makes me sad/excited/scared/thrilled over one concentrating on flight models any day. If I want physics, I'll boot MSFS.

4. If you answer this, I praise you!

If you click on the on-line standard, it'll show you what you need to download to get the new planes, etc.

After that you can d/l all the other add-on stuff.

Try setting reversed speakers in options to eliminate wrong-sided sounds

And yes, CTD=Crash to desktop

Called SDOE HotList, it will work with your browser to guide you to all the goodies and sites pertaining to SDOE. There are literally dozens of great sites....Nat's SDOE page, Tailslide's site, fshangar...just too many to try to put into a post without leaving out someone essential. Hotlist, created by Spyder, helps to organize all that for the new pilot to SDOE, and is dang handy for the veteran ones.

CTD's are indeed Crashes to Desktop, and occur with disturbing regularity in online play, but some days are worse than others.

The add ons required for current online play are plane pack 5.3, 5.3b, and Contest Pack 1.1. The plane packs are where one runs into problems. If you use WinZip, it is best to unzip a pack to a temp directory and view it's file structure before moving the files over to your game directory....many times, this is the source of problems. Any of the packs which use dOgmA's self installer - like Contest Pack 1.1 - take the headache out of this. Check www.simfiles.com for these files, and fshangar ( still www.fshangar.com I think ) always has had a great database of missions for on and off-line. Again, Spyder's Hotlist can help you greatly there.
