I've read (and posted) about the problems with V5 and trying to run SDOE in Glide (it doesn't work) - but I'm just wondering - is there any new developments in the area of a potential fix for this problem? SDOE is the only flight sim I have that has Glide problems...I'd love a fix, since D3D is much slower and not as nice.

I know the Wings of Honor guys came up with a patch for RB3 and the V5...any chance some of you guys out there (good with programming) might do the same?

Here's to hoping...thanks,

Pat

This is what we did to get around that issue.
First download the new drivers for your 3DFX voodoo 5 video card, remove your old drivers before installing the new ones.
After installation of the new drivers and video manager you will need to go to the "Full-Scene Anti-Aliasing (FSAA) or just Anti-Aliasing" area, look for the glide button in your 3DFX advanced display controls. (Not Direct X!)
Then set the control to "4 Aliasing", this will let you play SDOE in glide mode but you will have to change it back to "Optimal Performance" to play other games. the good news is you can do it all on the fly with out any need to reboot.

Unfortunately Von's method will only work with the boxed drivers. The latest build causes SDOE to lock up in Glide whatever the FSAA mode. However the corollary is that D3D performance is much improved with the new drivers. It's still slower than Glide, looks uglier but at least the framerates are acceptable.

Agreed...I'm using tweaked betas that are really good, but none of the drivers I've tried work with Glide as they should...

MH said a fix should be coming, because apparently RC has a problem with Glide as well...and the fix would be rolled into the next SDOE.
