Topic: Zoom Does; Something Else Doesn't

Have now progressed to PlanePak 5.3 w/Patch, WWIPlanePakBeta3. Downloaded an installed two of my favorite planes (not included in PlanePak)the HE162 and I16. In Windows Explorer, the files for these two a/c appear to be in the correct folders, per the Zip. In the game the He162 shows up only in the Germany folder as a listing but is not flyable (ctd to desktop when attempt) and the I16 does not appear anywhere (no a/c or Soviet listing in the Hangar or elsewhere). Startup.ppf shows both a/c with weapon and airfioil entries as in the respective Readme(s) (or so it seems to me). As usual your help is appreciated! IP: Logged |

in startup.ppf you can see something likedescCountry 'strGermany This tells the game that it should be in country Germany. Copy it to the I16 and change Germany to SovietUnion I had the same prob with the 162 a few weeks back...forgot teh solution  Check the mission file of the 162 IP: Logged |

Thanks Crossbow! Couldn't find "strGermany" in startup.ppf but did find it in "StringTable.ppf". I changed "StringTable" from "read only" long enought to add the entry "strSoviet Union" and entered the game but only the usual three countries were listed, still no Soviet Union, no I16.?????IP: Logged |

As a variable name, strSoviet Union probably isnt acceptable since its two words.Try strSovietUnion
its been a while since ive messed with the string tables but i think theres some place that says strGermany = "Germany" replace that with strSovietUnion="Soviet Union" IP: Logged |

Thanks, Falck. In the meantime, practicing my favorite pastime, "downloading"(!), I found the Nations addon at SimFiles; installed it and, presto, the StringTable now shows "Soviet Union" and the I16 has appeared! Crossbow: your mention of the He162 mission files made me realize there are no mission files in the He162 zip that I got from Panzer's site, which probably explains why the a/c won't fly in game(?} Is an He162 zip availble w/mission files?IP: Logged |
