Another newbie, with newbie woes: installed SDOE for first time, patched to 1.5; the zoom in, zoom out works great "in cockpit" but in external view the keys do nothing, the image is locked in the far distance with the view of a teeny tiny a/c. Pentium II 400, VD2s. If an ".ini" problem, how do I access .ini? Thanks in advance; really impressed with this sim otherwise!

Are you using the F2 external view or F3 external view? F3 is the chase view that doesn't zoom or rotate, it gets closer/further depending on speed, and the F2 is the pure external view which can be rotated, zoomed.

If the Zoom keys work for the cockpit then it probably isn't a keyboard file problem.

I have found that when the external view starts at a great distance from the aircraft that you have to hold down the zoom key for a few seconds before you get any noticible change. Are you tapping or holding the key?

Zoom Does! Jerry, I must have been doing a Fred Astaire tap routine on that key! Your "trod the boards slowly and firmly" advice is absolutely on target..Many thanks! This sim has some of the best looking graphics that I have seen (also have MA, EAW, and WWIIF) and the Open Plane WWI creations are a wonder! Now to go zoom in on them! P.S. I fly just as good as I solve PC problems!

On a somewhat similar subject, does anyone have a problem with the zoom in/out function in Jane's? It supposed to be the _ / - and the + / = keys, but I have yet to get them to work. Any ideas?

Thanks, G-man

I got a cheap deal on Jane's and had to give it a look. No comparision to SDOE, but I do like that I can strafe the infantry. I was just hoping to see them more clear with the zoom-in!!
