Ok, I know most of the time we don't use clouds in multi but the last couple times I have been in a match that this option was activated, I noticed (you couldn't help but notice) the clouds were blinking on and off. This does not happen in single player, nor do I remember it happening the first few times I played online (in other words, I think this just started happening.) Also, the number of players does not seem to change it either. I am using a p3 550 w/256 ram, 32mg TNT2 v card, DirX v6.1 Everything else works great... any ideas?

I had a similar problem off-line with one of MHs patches after I installed it. So I deleted it and my clouds no longer blink. You might want to try getting the most rescent drivers for your graphics card and also get DirectX 7a[This message has been edited by ArgonV (edited 07-06-2000).] IP: Logged |

I was actually wondering if the cloud position was send by the host in online updates. If you think about it, clouds would not work well (in gameplay terms) if they were in a different position on each machine.Maybe cloud updates are send less often and maybe more suseptable to lag? I know aircraft blink on and off when laggy. Bryan

I have run several missions offline to check what is happening and I don't get the blinking. Appears to be just during online play. I'm going to do some more checking to confirm online vs offline and different missions.IP: Logged |

What you describe is quite bizzare, and shouldn't happen. At the moment, I can't think of any reason why the clouds should only blink in multi-player. while they do move, their position isn't sent across the network. Since their behavior is only dependent on the wind, and their initial start positions are all the same, there's no need for constant updates.

Here's the scoop.... I just flew two different missions while online, both I flew by myself against AI. The clouds were blinking, in one mission it was intermittant. I then copied the missions to the Africa folder and played them offline and had NO problems?IP: Logged |

I had the blinking clouds problem with new detonator drivers for my TNT 2 card so I went back to the old 2.08 drivers and it fixed the problem. TS

I had the cloud blinking problem with my Elsa Erazor III card. Now with my Voodoo3 card it is gone. They only flashed in on-line missions. ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!

V-card, drivers, what ever, I still don't understand why it just happens just while online?Doesn't seem that those things should matter. IP: Logged |

If it is any help in determining the problem, myself and Siggi were flying online using the 1.5 patch only, 2 x Me262 and 1 x B17 in Rhineland and the blinking clouds was horrendous. I have a Geforce2 and Siggi a GeForce1. I was using the 5.22 Nvidia reference drivers.------------------ Jagdverband 44 IP: Logged |

This seems like a new problem... has anyone seen this 8 months ago?The only thing that has changed is the plane packs, right? Well maybe the activision servers, but MH seemed to suggest that these could not be the culprit. Hmmmm... -Sv IP: Logged |

I dunno about eight months ago, but it is not a new problem to me. An Nvidia related driver problem maybe. On my previous TNT1 if I reduced the level of mip-maps generated to zero it often reduced the effect.------------------ Jagdverband 44 IP: Logged |

Yea, I get the blinking clouds sometime but not all of the time and only online too. I've got a GeForce with DDR ram and the newest drivers. Himdog outIP: Logged |
