Hi, I've just purchased the game and am having problems just getting it installed and working. First, I did download all the files and installed them in the order suggested on the primary site. (The patch, the plane pack, the patch for the plane patch, then the Contest pack) I also tried to put on the Nations patch at this point. Among my problems were: inability to load the P-47 (from the hangar), game crashes the moment I select the Yak-9 (from the hangar). I tried to reinstall, and I have the same problems plus a few new ones. Can someone please offer some assistance?

Thanks,

Mike

There isn't a Hangar mission for the P47 in the contest pack. It was overlooked due to the fact that I recieved the P47 the night before the pack was finallized. As far as the Yak you will need to have the nations pack installed to use that as it is set in the russian group. You said you tried the nations pack but weren't clear if you have it installed now. Post back an update and we'll try to help from there.

Installing it right is a sience - First I would suggest to try the planes wich come with the shipped version, did they work ?

Nations - I got some trouble today with a new install, and the nations file I got (an older one) was wrong packed, it extracts to the wrong folder (might be I did something wrong). Make sure that all files from the Nations add-on are inside the /Media/ foldere of your SDOE installation.

If it still dont work, just reply here and describe the problems a bit detailed.

Good Luck !

Thanks for the help fellas. Unfortunately the very thing that makes this sim attractive -- lots of user support, is exactly what makes it hard to get started! I think many of us have gotten spoiled with just clicking some setup icon and sitting back and watching. Here's a list of current snafus, maybe someone can give me a hand.

1) The throttle on the keyboard doesn't seem to work. I have an older joystick which does seem to work ok for now, but the minute I take of the autopilot the plane starts to descend.

2) How do I upgrade the I-16 (the mere fact that such a plane is even flyable in this game is about 75% of the reason I picked it up!)

3) Why does the Zero appear in the German sqaudron listing, not the Japanese?

4) Why does the P-80 appear as a Mustang.

5) Could someone explain to me the significance of airfoils?

6) Why are some aircraft given folders in one place, others someplace else, and some seemingly nowhere?

7) If I want to add ground objects, where do they go?

8) Is there a FAQ or something more helpful than the petite manual?

Thanks,

Mike
