Trying to help a fellow flyer get started with SDOE. I believe the problem to be related to the fact that his DirectX version is 4.0. Had him install the DirectX version located on the FS CD and also downloaded V6.0 from Microsoft Web, but both times when he checks DXDiag loacted in the Program Files\DirectX\Setup folder it still shows Version 4.0? Everything appears to load properly & reboot at the end of installation. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What darthbob said. This is a case where the number in the marketing material doesn't match what's in the executable. 4.06 *is* DX6. I have DX7 on this machine and DXDiag shows 4.07.

Ok, thanks will give that a look and try. What threw me was that my version shows 6.01 so I assumed that his would too. Will keep you posted on the results.

If your having probs with DX, try uninstalling it or loading your original drivers back. i too have DX7.a and it reads ver. 4.0.7 or whatever, You can try going here for a program that uninstalls DX, but make sure you keep the original DX engine file so you dont have to download the whole thing over again. heres the link to the uninstaller.
Good Luck......-SWIVET ^I^
