Well: that is just it.

I can fly Spitfires, P38's, Typhoons OK.

But in a Fw190 I have two problems:
1. Uncontrollable roll (momentum just is so hard to control once the roll starts - keep going over uncontrollably+++)

2. Uncontrollable spin - even with apparently adequate speed 160-180 mph in dogfight with Spitfire.

I have made a series of 1 on 1 missions with the AI set to its highest skill, (but not much sanity) and can win in the craft I have mentioned above but not the Fw190. I sort of understand the concepts of e-fighting, but at the moment PLANE control is my problem

I really try hard NOT to pull hard on the stick. Commonly I only have 2-2.5 g up .. trying to keep a "loose" control on the stick. I think I don't pull hard on the stick at speed ... or are these just accelarated stalls.

BTW is there a "convention" regarding the grey arrows on the Glass cockpit surface. Arrow points to the front or the tail or is it different for each of the two arrows. Can't quite work it out yet. That could be part of the problem: in the other craft there is good information about where I am actually looking. Maybe I am just getting lost.

Very disheartening, but off to bed now and will try tomorrow night.

It is to the point where Typhoons are my favourite aircraft!!

Any clues please fellas.

Thanks

160-180 is too slow. Keep it over 200. Be patient. Execute a climbing turn and wait for the AI to stall, then swoop down on them.

The arrows point forward. The one with the deep notch is near the front of the canopy and the one with the squared off end is further back. Both are along the centerline, IOW, straight up, not to the sides.

Thanks Mighty.

I was just reading on the other page how the A4 FM is "wrecked" in the 5.3b plane patch.

Could that be the problem too?

I will try the other variants tonight.
