I have all the patches, planpacks, etc installed and have been having no problems for months. then, yesterday, as i tried to play a mission, the screen goes black, then reverts back to the mission complete screen without ever loading the mission itself.

I then tried a training mission and same thing, screen goes blank, then i just get bumped back to the training screen. No crash to desktop, no loading screen. ANy ideas?? thanks

Hmmm never heard of this one. can you let us know what mission/aircraft/theatre ect you were trying to play.

The mission i tried was one i created in the pacific theatre. i was going to fly one of the corsairs.

After that failed, i just tried a training mission with the Jug. and that did not work either. In fact i tried several plans and none of them work now....

Check the error.log file in your media folder. There's a fair chance that it will say what's wrong near the end of the file.

i checked the error log. Obvisously there is a lot in there. is there anything specifically i should be looking for. Here are a couple strange lines:

CLauncher::Cleanup(): Destroying game engin
CSDemonsApp::LaunchSIM(): Deleting launcher
CSDemonsApp::LaunchSIM(): showing last screen

I've never mentioned this one, but I have it aswell with my Voodoo, it only happens is I try useing glide or the 3DFX drivers, in D3D it's fine, so I'll be interested to hear a way round this one aswell

Between May 26 and 28th did you install new Drivers for your video card, or otherwise change your windows installation?

What's happening is the game can't initialize the D3D device (although I don't know exactly why).

Have you tried selecting Glide instead of D3D?

michael, no i didn't change drivers, etc. i will try in glide mode and see what happens.

i tried to run the game in glide mode, same thing is happening. any other ideas, or am i looking at an uninstall/reinstall?? thanks
