I,m still learning,i know how to decompress the par. files but can,t seem to do the same with the tiff. files, although i am following the tutorial to the lettre.
If i doubleclick on untiff.exe it appears and disappears again?

Open a dos window and do it there, you need to pass the input and output filenames to the util:
untiff filenametoconvert filenametosave

Same names save it over the original and a different name keeps the original.
ie.
untiff file file
or
untiff filename differentfilename

Rookie, not knocking untiff, but if you want s aimpler way of doing this, get Ifranview from (I believe www/ifranview.com) it will quickly batch convert all the tifs and nything else you want, plus do alot of other things.

There is a typo in above URL, the correct URL is www.irfanview.com

Yes, Rookie: DO get Irfanview.

The Tiffs are compressed using LZW compression (as I recall). This is not read by many standard programs at all.

With Irfanview, you can de-compress all the Tiffs within a few seconds, and then you can change them to any other format you want to work with in another few seconds - with the option of overwriting files, renaming them or exporting them to another folder; all with the Batch File function.

The Thumbnail viewer is also very good, being able to choose any pic you want and open it in a Graphics Program of your choice.

"Well,I love it ..."

Regards,
MW

Mark, I think you'll find they use zip compression, as Photoshop uses lzw, but still can't read the TIFs.. but hey, whos counting.. lol
