I had to reinstall Win 98. Now when I try to load SDOE I get an "illegal operation" message - "SDEMONS caused an invalid page fault in module XDRAW.DLL......".If I have to reinstall how do I avoid deleting all the utilities (SDOE Control, Chameleon, etc) and custom skins and ground objects, sounds, etc.? Just move them to another folder and move them back after the reinstall? HELP! PLEASE! I'M GROUNDED! Jerry IP: Logged |

If you have chameleon etc already in there that's fine unless you delete the whole sdoe directory manually. Just leave the Theatre folder as it is and reinstall sdoe to the same place as before. Same goes for the sounds etc, uninstalling sdoe with the uninstaller will not touch any addons that have been created.

Jerry, It sounds like your directx is screwed up. I suggest you go on-line and get the newest one (7.0 I think) Also, make sure your graphics card settings are what they should be and check for the latest drivers. Do any other games or programs do this illegal operation bit? One other thing you might try is deleting the xdraw.dll file and reinstalling it. Just make sure you do this is DOS or safe mode.IP: Logged |

Thanks guys. I'll check out the DirectX first when I get home tonight. If that isn't it, or the .dll file, and no other solutions are offered I'll go for the reinstall. If I lose any hard to replace addons I'll hop a plane to Australia and kick Spyder's ass. LOL I'm sure everything will be alright, Spyder hasn't mislead us yet. I assume that with an reinstall I'll have to also reinstall 1.5, 5.3 etc.? What about meatwater's sounds? Thanks again IP: Logged |

Jerry I think the lastest is directx 7a not 7. Directx 7 has some bugs in it, one of them is when you bootup your pc you have to calibrate your joystick everytime. Himdog outIP: Logged |

Jerry, if you delete all the contents in Sdoe of course you'll need to install the patches etc but if you go for the uninstall, check if your keyboard.inp and sdemons.ini file are still there. Move them someplace before installing 1.5 as it requires the vanilla versions of these files to install correctly. Either way it would probably be bette to have a backup of those files so you can copy them back in after sdoe has been setup again. Jerry, we don't take convicts anymore, you won't get in cheers
