Ok I don't understand Chameleons instructions. It doesn't work properly for me. I can't change the skins on some a/c. It is really confusing please help. Also the V-1 appears in the USA training area but it crashes if I choose to fly it. It works in a normal mission though. Please help me. Everyone ignored my last question on the V-1, its about 10 posts below this one. Thanks SnakeIP: Logged |

Snake, what problems are you having? The help file *should* get you going but I must confess, the idiot that wrote it assumed a lot! Don't feel bad, there are worse computer lackys down in Missouri. cheers------------------ IP: Logged |

It is really cool but anyway... Ok I don't understand what the 2 columns of dots are for. The ones across from the Theater. I put in a skin for the 109 but when I click a different button the skin stays the same. Must you have the same button on the left and the right pressed or what? And whihc skins do you put in? All of just the fuselage? Thanks for helpingSnake IP: Logged |

The ones on the right are for viewing and adding your tifs into each of the theatres. The 'dot' lines up with the theatre name on the far left to show you which folder you are looking in. On the left is where the copying takes place, if you have a tif or tifs in the Dover folder for example, clicking on the Dover theatre copies those tifs into the appropriate fs\media\aircraft\textures folder(s). On the right, revealing the window by clicking 'View Files', you can select any folder to drag and drop your tifs into. You need to select a particular folder before dropping your files in or you'll only be adding the tifs into one theatre. If you don't need to see or add files with this method then the left side is the only one you need use or worry about. As long as you have placed tifs into one or all of the theatres Chameleon created in your fs\media folder then it works fine. The help file shows you what tif parts are copied/required for each plane supported, some have multiparts but the majority are single tifs. Hope that helps. cheers

Ok I'm still having problems with this. Must you have a P-51 folder in each theater etc? ie. If I have a P51 skin (p51 is the example) and I copy it in to D-day folder(for example) must it go in to a p51 folder or can it just be there. ie Fighter Squadron/Theatres/P51/p51d.tif or FS/Theatres/p51d.tifWell? I feel so dumb Snake IP: Logged |

Snake, yes...if you want to change a skin everytime you change theaters then you need a skin for each plane in each theater. If you don't have a skin for your P-51 in the D-Day folder then when you select D-Day in Chameleon the skin on the P-51 doesn't change. The skin remains whatever it was the last time you changed it, and won't change again until you select a theater with a different P-51 skin.Place your tif.s in the appropriate Theater folders. The skins will copy to your FS/Media/Aircraft/(aircraft type)/Textures folder when you select a theater in Chameleon. [This message has been edited by Jerry (edited 03-17-2000).] IP: Logged |

Snake- He was talking about Spyder...relax -see Spyders first post in this thread. When you are done downloading, all you have to do is throw in skins. So you have many choices (Africa, Dover, Germany, Rhineland Winter, Pacific, BoB, DDay, and NightFighters)- so you go searching for skins. In your game folder (mine is Fighter Squadron, others may have SDOE...whatever one your Media folder is in) is a folder called Theater. In this folder are all the choices listed above in parentheses. So let's say you have three skins for the 51- a night skin, a DDay skin, and a Rhineland skin- so you put those skins in their respective folders above (FS/Theater/D-Day or FS/Theater/Night Fighters or FS/Theater/Rhineland). Then on the left in Chameleon are where you choose each one. So- say you choose DDAy- then in the game will be that skin. Say you go back and choose Dover- well you didn't put a skin in the Dover folder, so your Stang will still have the D-Day skin since it has nothing to change to. You don't need to put a skin in all 8 folders for it to work, but don't expect a skin change when you click a choice that you haven't placed a skin in. The Chameleon Help file is really quite good if you have further questions- not all planes that we fly now are supported (like the I16 or Corsair)- the list that are supported are in that Help file. But I don't see why Spyder doesn't go ahead and add the new planes--hmmm....maybe he's waiting for the vontest to end? Ok my brother finally got it working for me. I was putting the new tifs straight into the folders without renaming them. In future skin makers should make the filename correct. It would speed things up. Thanks Jeeves and Spyder for helping me. I also made my first skin tonight, a Mustang covered in the Irish Flag!!! Thanks SnakeIP: Logged |

Sorry I wasn't watching this thread and missed what's been happening. It isn't case sensitive so P51D or p51d will work. The main problem you were having was assuming the tifs needed to be placed in aircraft folders in your theatres, of course it looks like you found that out. I have an update that highlights the theatre as you select the files list on the right, along with some minor changes that may help avoid the confusion over all of this in the future. I'll be adding more planes shortly now that there's a heap of them. I just need to check on the parts list as the latest ones use quite a few. Ignore Zoy, he's just upset because we spell things 'properly' here in Aus and a few other places. He's a nice guy really and he proof read the help file so blame him for any confusion, yuk yuk! cheers
