I get online to fly, but once in a mission (and sometimes even before that) the game starts locking up. I have normal FR for me, but the game acts as though it's running at 1FPS or less. The sound gets messed up and broken, I can actually see the frames changing on the screen. I've now done 3 complete re-installs of SDOE and it's still there.

The game plays fine offline, and used to fly fine online with pp5.2. I thought it might be a problem that suddenly developed with my ISP, so I switched through my other 3 isp's and still get the same problem. It's there in UK1 and in Cali12, so after everything I've done I'm sure it's not my connection, and can only be something in the game now thats killing it when I get into online games, but WHY!! It was fine, had no trouble flying online even when I only used to get really low FR's.

Someone, anyone, please help me out here, I've done everything I know and nothing has changed, I can't fly online like this, last night Elf outran me when he was doing 100mph and I was at 350!, but not only that, it really is impossible to fly like this and I'm right at the end of my teather... i can't switch back to 5.2 to see if that solves it, cause no-one uses 5.2 anymore, and vene then, what good would it be when I can't join any missions.... I'm really pissed guys and could do with any help you can give.

What mission(s) have you tried?

What plane are you flying, and what planes are in the missions?

What ground objects are present?

Are you using glide or D3D?

PP5.3 or PP5.2 is giving you the problem?

Actually, this may affect TNT2 cards as well; can't remember. But with the frame rate problem you've got, it sure sounds like this bug...

Take a deep breath,and remember,if one person is NOT having problems than your problem CAN be fixed......and will.

Please give us the following:

CPU type and speed (overclocked?)
Video Cards (glide or D3D) if D3D,what version of DirectX,and what video drivers.
What is your frames per second exactly?

What patch 1.5 or 1.5.1?
Are you running Add-On Sounds,SDoE control,extra skins,how many missions in your folders,etc........

I'd suggest updating all drivers for hardware
and your directx.

Completely uninstalling the game and going behind it to delete the folder,it never completely disappears.

Install CD,Patch 1.5 (not 1.5.1),then PP5.3 and PP5.3a patch.

DO NOT ADD ANY OTHER SKINS,TERRAINS,SOUNDS,NOTHIN ELSE.

Try a fresh reboot,pull up the task bar and make sure only Em-exec(you may see this one or not)systay,and exployer are running(with win 98)End task ALL others.Connect to internet. Then fire game up.

AMDK6-2 3D CXT 300 o/c @ 350mhz (3.5 x 100)
Both graphics cards (same problem using either) Voodoo3 2000 PCI (not o/c'd) - STB Velocity 4400 AGP o/c'd to 125 mhz (memory and clock both) both using fully uptodate Drivers, and newest version of Dircet X 7a(*Note both cards aren't installed at the same time, I switch them over)
Usually using Glide for 3dfx, but problem is there also in D3D. FPS using Velocity in D3D usually cerca 24 fps, Using V3 2000 in Glide cerca 18 fps (this is usual, and until now has never been a problem, even with lower FR's, but when the "lagging" occures, the FR still reads as normal and doesn't reduce)

The problem occures online only, in any mission at all, using any type of aircraft as far as I've seen so far.

I only have the usual installed as ever i.e SDOE, Patch 1.5, PP5.3a, Data7.par (online mission pack) SDOE Control (but also tried without it)Jun Gam Sounds and Meatwater sounds. This setup never caused problems before.

And yes, after each uninstall I've deleted the FS directory and rebooted before reinstalling.

As for programs running in background, other than my modem software (to run the Winmodem) thats all I have, again, this configuration always worked until now.. thats the thing thats really been buggin me, my system setup is no different to always.

I'll try once again going through an un install, and reinstall, only installing the bare minimal as suggested, but I don't expect it to help this time either.

If there's any other info I can give that let me know.
