Some months ago I installed a "fake" Zero which was a FW190 with a Zero skin. It's listed in the Training Missions and Hanger menus. Now that we have a "real" A6M5 Zero (beautiful plane by the way) I want to delete the old Zero. How do I do this?

There are no separate aircraft folders for it. There are no separate Training or Hanger missions for it. I have looked for and found no loose startup files. It appears to be in a Par file but I've been told it is not in the plane pack.

It just takes up space and causes confusion on the plane selection menus. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Jag, no, they both show up in the Hanger and Training Missions menu. You can fly both and they both show up in the Mission Editor.

Search your FS folders for the old loadout.ppf file. Even if you rename it to something like "oldunusedZero.ppf" the sim WILL find it and make that a choice. I had two Corsairs showing up for a while until I removed the second .ppf file.

jedi,

Thanks for the response. All my .ppf files are assigned to user created planes (no old Zero only the A6M5), pilot stats, or squadrons - except 3 loose ones. One was a loadout, one a startup and one a String Table. I deleted each one, one at a time and it had no effect on the old Zero.

Does anyone remember who put this bird together?

I did not do the FW190 Zero. I think Raider did.

I just deleted my old zero folder in my aircraft directory, and installed the new one.

I know it sounds too simple, and someone's going to tell me why it shouldn't work, but it seems ok so far.

MK, that's the problem. I don't have an old Zero folder to delete! The plane is just there, but I can't find any folders, ppf.'s or anything for it to delete.

Do you remember what your old zero folder was named and what was in it?

Was it ever included in a par file? If yes, then it may be in one of your par files.

That was my first guess. It's not in a plane pack parfile so I don't know where it is. If it is in a parfile I was hoping whoever put it there would step forward and tell me how to get it out. If I'm the only one who has it then maybe it isn't worth everyone's trouble but there must be others.

The FS folder is getting so large that I try to keep all the useless unused or redundant stuff out.

Maybe you should deinstall SDOE and remember to delete all the files that deinstall leaves behind. Then reinstall SDOE, patch and planepack.

Try this. Rename your aircraft folder (in the media directory) to -Aircraft. Open up FS, and see if the 190-Zero appears. If not, then you know it's in the A/C folder somewhere..... If it still appears........ uh oh! In this case, remove/rename all the un-needed parfiles, then see if it's gone.

Tell me if this works. K?

Well.....I renamed the Aircraft folder and the old Zero was still alive and kickin'. (So was the Go-229, is this in the plane pak?).

Which are the unneeded parfiles? I have 1,2,3,4,5,11,12,13.

I deleted parfile 8 which had Bessie, was there anything else in 8 besides her? I'ld just as soon leave her out.

Thanks for your help. I love a good mystery.

Ok I think the essential par files are 1-4.......... but for some reason I thing 11 ming be important too..... so take out (probably should rename) 13, 12, and 5. 13 and 12 are the PP files if I'm not mistaken. But take them out anyways....... and if the zero dissapears, it's most likely in data5.par.

Good luck!

YIPPIE!!! It was data5.par. I renamed it and the old Zero is gone!!! I hope there is nothing else in it. It was 4.3MB - seems large for just one plane.

Jaguar I owe you. Head on over to Jade's. Drinks are on me. Thanks.
