I need help with a texture map problem. (SV!???)I have followed SV's texture map document to the letter making several attempts from scratch with the same result. 1) I load my texture into the background object behind my rudder. 2) I change the size of the background object containing the texture map so that the background rudder texture is the same size as my rudder. (I'm using a 256 x 256 pixel texture with multiple aircraft surface textures on the texture template.) 3) I select the rudder and background object and reload my texture. 4) The texture squishes entirely into the rudder (as SV mentions in his doc). I then remap the coordinates. Here is where I see the problem. The texture on the rudder changes losing its distorted squished effect into a texture of correct aspect ratio. However, the size of the texture remains very small with many parts of my texture map showing on my rudder object other than just my rudder texture. What am I doing wrong?? Thanks, Ronin

Make sure you load the texture onto the rudder before remapping. Then select both objects, switch to vertex mode and remap texture coordinates in the side view (y,z?) plane. BTW, that's a pretty big texture for just the rudder. IP: Logged |

Michael- I've done everything you mentioned. I did the remapping of the coordinates in the XY plane. This is the same view that I used to match the texture plate to the rudder.Regarding 'pretty big texture for a rudder' you may have missed in my post that the rudder texture is only one image of several images all fit onto the 256x256 texture plate. I will just rattle of the basic steps here again - maybe in the words you will see what you have missed:1. you have a rudder object 2. You create a much larger square object behind just behind the rudder. 3. Load the 256x256 texture onto the big square. 4. Ramap the coords of the square if your texture does not look right. 5. Position and resize the square as needed to get the rudder image on the square to lay directly over the rudder. So the square should be much larger than the rudder. 6. Select both objects at the same time. Now choose object -> merge objects. Now you have 1 object - the texture may look wacky now 7. Now load the texture again onto this new object. Remap if needed. 8. Select each vertex of the big square poly only. 9. Choose surface -> cut away object. 10 now while the big square object is selected, choose to delete it. Now you should have it perfectly mapped. Well? Do post again if you still don't get it. It is hard work, but once you get it it will make sense. I will explain further if you are confused on any of the above steps. Then you will have the power! (remember Nuum? LOL) ------------------ -Sv =FC= WWI in SDOE!
