If I download templates to do my paint work, won't I still need to tiif them somehow for SDOE? Thanks

I'm a complete novice but I've just used a couple of templates and put them on my planes and they already are tif files. I don't do anything but paint them and shift them to aircraft textures files. To me its all magic but its dead simple, except I mirrored the template to do some lettering and forgot to shift it the right way round and the plane was painted back to front with insignia and exhaust pipes in very strange places.
I hope I'm right.

No, the temps are already in the tif format. You do not need to compress them back to parsofts tifs. A regular tif file will work fine. In you your art program when you are done, simply save file as a "tif" and choose "LZW" compression. The LZW part isnt required but it doesnt hurt
