When creating a mission where i set the 1 waypoint at 10k and none of the following waypoints any lower the planes take off but never climbs to 10k..only to a few thousand feet. If im the leader and i go autopilot it still doesnt get up to 10k..and the friggin other planes doesnt even get into the VIC form that i had specified..what is this? The autopilot seems like a very stoopid guy..or is it me thats the stoopid one?

Micke, how are you doing?

In my experience, if I start on the ground, the time taken to take-off just strings the planes out and they never get in formation. I've tried circling round the airfield, if I'm leader, just to let them catch up but they just follow me round and are as far apart as before. If I slow down, they slow down too. The best I've done is flown as near as I can, and pressed the K key (follow me) and that's kinda worked, but I've never got a proper vic or wedge as I've specified in the mission. It's the same for planes taking off at other fields on the AI. If you look at the map, you see them all strung out line astern.

Maybe somebody else has an answer. Sorry I don't have a magic solution. It would be great to attack something in formation. The only way you can do it is to start in the air when you do get a tight vic or wedge. But even then it's too tight for fighting and the AI planes sometimes collide.

Best wishes

Thanks for answering!

Well, as you say the autopilot aint very smart. I got him to follow the leader by directly jumping to anoter seat and he did follow the leader all the way but didnt drop any bombs. The AI on the rest of the group aint very good, had atleast 2 collisions with other friendlys. Thinking abt installing 1.51beta patch because of the "fix" of this. Only way to make them fly in formation is to set them "enroute".
Had some problems with gettingfighters to attack a flight even if they are very close. When i jump to a fighter and turn towards the bombers it seems to make them see them.

Have you tried installing the 1.51beta patch? (avalible at www.fshangar.com by Michael Harrison under updates)

Ill try it and see what it does

Best regards

Frustrating ain't it, especially when the AI won't bomb and won't fight. I've often used up all my ammo and hot-seated to the next plane and found it ambling around with its guns unfired and a full load of rockets. After a while you get used to it as a quirk of the game and spend your time moving from plane to plane because it's the only way the mission can be won.

Let us know what the patch does. I have the 1.5 but not the 1.5 1. I thought it only dealt with some online probs.

Best of luck.
