I just got fighter squadron. Every time I try to run a mission in the program it locks up 30 sec- 1 min into the mission. I've tried several things, but can't get the program to work properly. My system is as follow:

550 mhz PIII
128 mb ram
NVIDIA Diamond Viper 770D with 32 mb of ram

anybody have any suggestions about what might be going wrong?

Anybody have the Diamond Viper 77D card?

I think the problem might be with the driver for the card, but as far as I know the driver I have is up to date.

Anyone know which drivers for this card work with the program.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks
bt

I've had similar problems with a Viper 550 on and off and it was always the driver. The most recent ones are not always an improvement. I've also find that reinstalling the latest version of directx after installing new drivers sometimes helps.

Now I'm thinking that its not the video card because the game operates fine when I turn all of the sound off in the options screen. Could my sound card/ sound card driver be causing the problems? I have a TBS Montego II card.

Any suggestions?

btpa5: You can tell if your Viper is overheating by removing the case and playing the game with a fan or something blowing on your Viper to help keep it a bit cooler. If everything works fine, then heat was probably the culprit. But, it seems that the problem might be linked to your sound card. The only idea I have about that one is to check your drivers for your sound card...

MrBlob: do you have the same symptoms as btpa5? (Works fine for 30 sec-1 min then lockup? And it's fine if you disable the sound? What kind of sound card do you have?)

it was the sound driver that was messing things up. not the card overheating.

I have a soundblaster 64, voodo 2 (2 of them), 64meg ram, 6 gig HD, P2 333mhz.

the problem seem to lie only with missions that I've created??? 1 min to 2 mins in to the game it freezes!!!!!!!!

Any help is good? Thx
