Michael, I have a series of posts below on a lock-up using Glide with an AGP Voodoo3.I think I found a fix, but was wondering...I noticed that the SDglide.dll file in the Fighter Squadron directory (as well as the SDd3d.dll file) is dated 4-28-99. Is there a newer version that might be more "compatible" with the newer Glide and D3D drivers? I'm using the patched 1.5 version of the game. Another question - is the Beta (v. 5) actually more stable with "newer" systems and drivers (P3-500 MHz, DX-7, etc.)? By the way, it's too bad that SDOE doesn't have more marketing support from Activision, because it is the best sim for all-out dogfighting! I like it better than EAW or Janes for that purpose...thanks for such a great product! Pat IP: Logged |

If anyone can shed some light on ANY of the above questions, I'd love to hear from you...Pat IP: Logged |

The beta does contain fixes for the combined 2d/3d boards from 3dfx which will also improve stability on the V3.It doesn't specifically contain anything that would make it more stable on "newer" systems, just overall. I agree IP: Logged |

Geodude, I was getting locked up with Glide and a AGP Voodoo3. I added a fan to cool the darn thing down and so far no locks. This is on a PIII 500. Knock on wood er maybe that should be knock on silicon.------------------ silas Demon's Runway [This message has been edited by silas (edited 01-16-2000).] [This message has been edited by silas (edited 01-16-2000).] IP: Logged |

Silas,I also added an extra fan, but still had the lockups (but not in any other sim, nor running it in DirectX as opposed to Glide). But...the lockups stopped when I set the AGP aperture size to 4 Mb. Maybe the V3 is a little "flaky" when it comes to AGP stuff). Pat IP: Logged |
