Peter turned me on to Gimp some time ago. He asked that I give it a go and maybe list it on my site. At first I was thinking well if its free it cant be that good. Little did I know the surprise I was in for.

After trying it I was sold. It does the same stuff that PhotoShop and Corel can do. Best part is like Peter said, its free. Even with PhotoShop and Corel, Gimp has been added to my selection of tools. Not only for SDOE but for other art related things that I do. For me the best part about Gimp is the vast array of free plugins. Litterly hundreds can be added to this already powerful bit of FreeWare.

Imho Gimp beats PaintShop Pro hands down.

If you feel you must spend some money then have a look at Fractal Design. They offer a wide range of software for all price ranges.
I may be purchasing their latest higher end offering looks very nice.
