I mailed this a while ago, but have been unable to play SDOE for a while. I don't have a 'proper' PC, but use a Toshiba laptop (pII 266) with PCMIA joystick driver; it had 32meg of memory & when I had to load a virus utility SDOE wouldn't run. Added more memory and bingo!

Except - my Avro Lancaster still doesn't have any props! It did under the original SDOE, but with the 1.5 patch or FM 5.2 it doesn't - but oddly the B-17 does. And the Lanc is my favourite plane! I've tried dropping the texture & object rate - no joy. Is there an amendment that a dumb ass like me can do to the Lanc file? I really miss seeing the props go round, even if they are too slow!

Also, find I can't run the SDOE control program - it makes the damn thing hang and all I get is a frozen screen (it runs for 2 secs) and a high-pitched buzz. Seems to have something to do with switching on the HUD in the options, but isn't consistent. Is it a problem? Someone told me the answer to all my problems was to 'push out the fog' & SDOE Control seems to offer a non-techie like me a way to do that, but not if the thing won't let the program run.

Sorry for the long post - I really like reading this BB incidentally.

For the Lanc props, it could be that the texture for the spinning prop got corrupted somehow. Delete media/sdoecache.tex and media/sdoecache.dir. The program will rebuild them. As you enter each theatre the next time it'll take a few minutes to build the cache.
